What is the best family friendly beach near Orlando?

Can you answer Melanie's question about Orlando?:

We are planning a trip to Orlando to do the whole Disney, Seaworld thing and would like to spend one day at the beach. What is the best beach for us to visit?

Thanks!

It's not really close to orlando but I've lived in florida for 14 years and I love siesta key's beach in sarasota florida. It maybe a drive but it's DEFINATELY worth it.

It depends on what coast you want to go to. You could go to Cocoa Beach with the Original Ron Jon Surf Shop- it is open 24 hours. Then for the gulf, you could go to St. Pete. Our church has done couples retreats to both places and I would have no problem going to either one with the whole family. If you need anymore ideas- go to. You can even get your park tickets if you look under the extras tab (it beats waiting in line). Have fun- your kids are going to have a blast!

Cocoa Beach is the closest and it is a nice place to visit. I agree with the first answer however, the most beautiful beaches are about 2- 2 and 1/2 hours away from Orlando, on the gulf coast. Siesta Key, Longboat Key, Anna Maria Island and Clearwater Beach are wonderful.

New Smyrna Beach on the East Coast or Clearwater on the West Coast.

I really enjoy how some of these idiots read the question and then decide that they don't like it so they make up a whole new question and answer that one instead.

The best family friendly beach near Orlando is Cocoa Beach.

Clearwater Beach is very nice and it's about an hour and 45 minute drive from Orlando! Near the Pier they offer jet skiing, para sailing, dolphin watching boats, and much more. If you have a couple of days you could even stop by Busch Gardens.Try this web site to find out more about Clearwater:

Well I lived in Orlando for 3 years and one of the reasons I left was because of how far away it was from the beach, but I will agree with Jennifer, my favorite beach is Clearwater for a number of reasons. It is one of the only "family friendly" beaches there is in central Florida and I must say that its not as far away as Jennifer stated. Clearwater is no more than a 45 minute commute, not an hour and 45 minute commute, pretty much all the beaches are 45 minutes away from Orlando. Daytona is 45 minutes away, Cocoa is 45 minutes away, Clearwater, Tampa, all of them. I will tell you however Cocoa is not very "family friendly" at all, there are skimpy dressed girls, nasty, dirty water, dirty sand, I wouldn't take my kids there and the same with Daytona. I would choose Tampa/Clearwater definetly!!!

New Smyrna Beach is my first choice, but Cocoa is good, too. Be sure to wear lots of sun block. Put is on while you are in the car - it should be applied 20 - 30 minutes before sun exposure. When you get to the beach, the wind and water can mislead you and you and the kids end up fried - can ruin the rest of your vacation.

Enjoy!

i did some googling for you, from finding hotel near Sea World Orlando to beaches information, but you need to research a little bit yourself to get the final answers。

I am not sure why ppl got thumbs down for Cocoa. I have to agree that Cocoa is the easiest beach to get to from the attractions and it is very family friendly. I would not suggest staying there for a week but for a days visit just to go the beach it is great. You can also visit the Kennedy Space Center for something different.
