Visiting Florida's Top Theme Parks
You can't go wrong in Florida when it comes to visiting one of their many theme parks. From thrill rides to marine life to animal safaris, visitors of all ages will find something to fit their style.
Still, the first theme park that comes to mind when thinking of Florida has to be Disneyworld. Not only is it the most visited resort in the world, but it also takes up its own entire town-Lake Buena Vista. Despite the fact that people tend to think of the rides and attractions when the word "Disneyworld" is spoken, it actually consists of four different theme parks, twenty-three hotels, and two water parks.
The four different theme parks that comprise Disneyworld are Epcot Center, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom, and the Magic Kingdom. It is the Magic Kingdom that that is actually the amusement park and has the famous "It's a Small World" ride and Cinderella's Castle.
Epcot Center is dedicated to cultural diversity and scientific exploration. The World Showcase area has attractions devoted to Canada, the U.K. Morocco, France, Japan, Italy, Germany, China, the USA, Norway, and Mexico.
Disney's other park, Animal Kingdom, is situated on 500 acres and hosts many different animals. It also boasts a musical devoted to "The Lion King."
Although not part of the Disneyworld parks, Universal Studios is another fun theme park to visit in Florida. It is also the 5th most visited theme park in the United States. Here, visitors are invited to "ride the movies."
Contrasting to the Universal Studios in Los Angeles, which started out as a real working studio, the Florida counterpart was intended to be a theme park and movie studio from its formation. Visitors are able to feel included in many popular movies and can even go out on a boat and be "chased" by Jaws himself.
The Universal Horror's Makeup Show is another fun attraction at Universal Studios. Here, visitors can watch how horror movie special effects are created.
Located in Tampa, Busch Gardens is another popular theme park in Florida. Busch Gardens, which has an African theme, hosts more than 2700 animals. Different areas of the park include Morocco, the Bird Gardens, Land of the Dragons, Stanleyville, Jungala, the Congo, Timbuktu, Nairobi, Crown Colony, and Egypt. Within these areas, visitors can view rhinos, elephants, chimpanzees, cheetahs, giraffes, gazelles, impalas, ostriches, storks, cranes, gorillas, hyenas, and much more.
Aside from animals, Busch Gardens also has several rides, including the SheiKra, a vertical dive coaster. In Egypt, visitors can ride on Montu, a steel roller coaster with 7 inversions.
SeaWorld, located in Orlando, is another very popular theme park. At SeaWorld, guests can go on an aquatic adventure. Many forms of marine life can be viewed such as dolphins, manatees, whales, and stingrays. Aside from the sea life, Busch Gardens also has Clydesdale hamlet where visitors can see the famous Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales.
SeaWorld also has live shows featuring their animal stars and a place for children. The Waterfront, the park's newest attraction, even has a replica of a Mediterranean village.
There are many things to see and do at Florida's theme parks, and you could spend virtually a month trying to fit everything in. No matter what your style or what you want to see, there is something for everyone.
